Lord May is right to complain about the irresponsible and unrealistic way in which science and scientists are portrayed in TV drama. Peter Normington and I have set up SciTalk with support and funding from the National Endowment for Sciences,Technology and the Arts, to help fiction-writers interact with scientists.

We recognise that it will take time to persuade writers to put science into fiction - but the results have the potential to reach enormous numbers of readers and audiences.
