Alan Collins, in his appropriately positive review of Douwe Draaisma鈥檚 The Nostalgia Factory: Memory, Time and Ageing (Books, 12聽December), notes that 鈥淒raaisma writes in a lively style鈥, but fails to point out that his perception of this is in no small measure due to the excellence of the translation made by Liz Waters from the Dutch edition of聽2008.

Is it asking too much for reviewers to rescue translators from complete invisibility by at least naming them, and thus recognising the importance of their profession?
