Steve Fuller urges us to judge the continued viability of proposals from the Robbins report in terms of the best exploitation of 鈥渉uman capital - or talent鈥 (鈥Intellectual fruit of neoliberal seedbed鈥, Letters, 24 October). For聽talent, why not use the concept of intelligence, which is at least measurable?
The idea of supporting 鈥渘on-university education that is sensitive to other forms of talent鈥 could be strengthened by employing Howard Gardner鈥檚 notion of 鈥渕ultiple intelligences鈥. This would satisfy those educationalists who are fearful of g, the well-established general factor of intelligence.
