How technology helps universities transition to hybrid learning

As higher education faces a transformation in teaching and learning, industry partners can help empower students and institutions

Hybrid, or blended, learning is 鈥渉ere to stay鈥, and universities should take advantage of technology to manage the transition and thrive in the new teaching environment.

Speaking at the 探花视频 Digital Transformation Forum聽2020 session 鈥淭eaching and learning: Transformed hybrid, multi-modal learning in higher education鈥, Elisaveta Nojkovska, a聽Microsoft industry executive for higher education, argued that hybrid learning offered a 鈥渉olistic, reimagined learning experience鈥.

鈥淗ybrid learning is here to聽stay. Even as students begin returning to campus, the blend of remote and in-person education will be crucial for the future,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t is not a temporary response to a聽crisis; it is the new normal for education, and it鈥檚 the path universities must follow to succeed in the future.鈥

Nojkovska told the forum that 61聽per cent of education leaders expect full hybrid learning and 87聽per cent expect to use technology more than before. As part of Microsoft鈥檚 vision to 鈥渆mpower every student and every institution on the planet to achieve more鈥, the company has more than 150聽million students, faculty and teachers using Microsoft Education products worldwide.

Microsoft Office 365聽A1 with Microsoft Teams, for example, is available to universities for free, offering tools including the ability to host live events for up to 20,000聽users.

鈥淣ow that education is shifting into the long-term reality of hybrid learning, we want to help you build a聽foundation to help all students succeed,鈥 said Nojkovska.
