The four-and-a-half year course, a partnership between the University of Buckingham and Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, will cost 拢35,000 a year - some 拢3,000-a-year more than previously expected - placing the total cost of tuition at 拢157,500.
The university says that the fees are 鈥渨ithin the range of fees being charged by other UK medical schools for overseas students鈥, adding that admission criteria would also be 鈥渃omparable to the UK鈥檚 other medical schools鈥. However, unlike other medical schools, there will be no cap on the number of international students.
Terence Kealey, vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham and a qualified medical doctor himself, said: 鈥淲e intend to provide high-quality students with a first-rate, caring, medical education.鈥
Dean of medicine, Karol Sikora, added: 鈥淔ive years ago we started a postgraduate degree course in internal medicine, and we now have more than 50 doctors studying on this course鈥.with the launch of the MB ChB undergraduate degree, we have a complete medical training programme.鈥
The university will accept direct applications from 鈥渨ell-qualified applicants鈥 from September 1, 2013.
