We are seeking a talented Power Electronics Engineer or Research Fellow to design and optimize high-frequency magnetic components and resonant power conversion circuits for advanced aerospace power supply applications. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project supervisors and team members to achieve technical objectives, resolve design challenges, and ensure projects are completed on schedule. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in both magnetic design and resonant topology optimization, enabling the delivery of high-efficiency, compact, and reliable solutions. Candidates with relevant R&D work experience will be considered. The project supervisor will provide on-the-job training on simulation tools.

Key Responsibilities


	Design and develop custom high-frequency transformers (planar, ferrite-core, and PCB-embedded) for switching power converters. Model parasitics (leakage inductance, interwinding capacitance) for accurate simulation and EMI prediction. Analyze core and copper losses and apply thermal management strategies for high power density application. Build and evaluate transformer prototypes.
	Design resonant circuit topologies for high-efficiency DC-DC conversion. Calculate resonant tank parameters to achieve ZVS/ZCS and optimize switching performance. Model and simulate resonant circuits under varying load and voltage conditions using circuit simulation software. Develop advanced control strategies to meet the application requirement.


Job Requirements


	Master/Ph.D. degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Power Electronics focus preferred).
	Proficiency in magnetic design tools (e.g., Simplis Magnetics Design Module, ANSYS Maxwell, etc) and circuit simulation platforms (Simplis, PLECS, PSIM, LTspice, etc) is preferred.
	3+ years’ experience in designing high-frequency magnetic components and resonant converters, with relevant academic research as a valued addition.
	Familiarity with GaN/SiC device circuit design application and high-frequency switching considerations.
	Understanding of safety (IEC/UL) and EMC/EMI compliance requirements.

This Fellowship is a collaboration between King’s College London, King’s College Hospital, Guy’s Hospital and the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission. The post leverages the close relationship between the research interests in oncology and neuroscience offered by King’s College London with the Neuro-oncology service based at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s Hospital.

King’s College London has major research interests in Neurosciences and Oncology. The Department of Basic and Clinical Neurosciences, where the post holder will be based, has world class facilities for genetics, neuroimaging, neurophysiology, proteomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, cell models and animal models. First in man and Phase 2, 3 and 4 clinical trials are also strongly supported with state-of-the-art clinical research facilities, the clinical trials unit and the NIHR research support service at KCL.

The Regional Neuro-oncology unit at King’s College Hospital (KCH) and Guy’s Hospital Cancer Centre is one of the largest Neuro-oncology units in the country with a catchment area of over 4 million people and is a Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission Centre of Excellence. The Unit provides team-based care in all aspects of neuro-oncology. The KCH and Guy’s Regional Neuro-oncology service is one of the inaugural Tessa Jowell Centres of Excellence for Neuro-oncology. There are Neuro-oncology clinics for: Adults, Teenage and Young Adults and Low-grade gliomas at KCH, and Oncology clinics at Guy’s Cancer Centre. Cases with possible cancer involvement, e.g. glioma mimics, meningeal disease, or brain tumour patients with functional neurological disorders are investigated at KCH. State of the art Neurosurgery is provided at King’s College Hospital with all necessary support. Oncology (chemoradiotherapy) management is based at the purpose-built Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital. We have close working relationships with the Haematologists to diagnose primary CNS lymphoma and the CAR-T service for patients with blood malignancies.

The Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission (TJBCM) was formed following Dame Tessa Jowell’s call to action to improve treatment, care and research for people with brain tumours. The TJBCM works with stakeholders in the government, academic, NHS, Charity and patient and volunteer sectors to design and deliver a new national strategy for brain tumours. In particular, the TJBCM aims to significantly grow the brain tumour research community in the UK, train outstanding health care professionals and offer better care for patients in the UK.

About the role

This Post CCT Fellowship is for Neurologists who have completed General Neurology training and want to develop a specialist interest in Neuro-oncology. The post leverages the close relationship between the research interests in oncology and neuroscience offered by King’s College London with the Neuro-oncology service based at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s Hospital.

The Fellowship will be split with 50% time for research and 50% time for clinical care. The objective is to prepare the Neurology trainee to lead neuro-oncology research projects in the future that will improve the diagnosis and management of patients with brain tumours.

The Fellow will undertake a research project(s) which impacts diagnosis and management of brain tumour patients. The research project will be supervised by Dr Gerald Finnerty and will be based in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, King’s College London, which is on the same campus as King’s College Hospital. The Fellow’s research roles will involve developing and conducting the research project in discussion with their supervisor. We anticipate that the Fellow will Identify sources of funding and will contribute to securing those funds. The Fellow will be expected to write up their research project for publication in academic journal(s) and make presentations at conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events. Existing research topics range from clinical research e.g. CSF liquid biopsy and stroke in brain tumour patients, through to basic science, such as live human brain tissue to study brain tumours.

The Fellow will gain expertise in all aspects of the diagnosis and management of neuro-oncology patients. Clinical work will be based primarily at King’s College Hospital with a monthly clinic with the Oncologists at Guy’s Hospital. They will provide neurological care for patients with primary or secondary tumours involving the nervous system and patients with neurological complications of treatments for primary brain tumours and other cancers. This includes immunotherapies, such as chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells. The Fellow will be closely involved in the investigation and management of patients with conditions that mimic a brain tumour.

This is a one-year full-time (40 hours per week) post and you will be offered an a fixed term contract running 1 December 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter until 30 November 2026.

About Us

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to join our PET Imaging Centre. The PET Centre is part of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College London within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences. As such, we run an extensive clinical PET service, including a wide range of specialist indications, and an extensive clinical research programme.

About The Role

The Senior Business Operations Officer is a key member of the PET administrative team responsible for the provision of clerical administrative support in all aspects of the PET Centre's activities. This will cover both St Thomas’ Hospital and Guy’s Cancer Centre and will include clinical, research and radiochemistry service provision and will be working under the direction of the PET User Access Manager.

The post requires an efficient and confident manner and ability to take on a variety of duties which includes a high level of patient and external partners contact both face to face and by telephone. Due to the nature of the role, the post will require full time presence on site.

The post holder must be able to manage their own workload providing direction, support and supervise the administrative and reception staff and assist other members of the Centre as required. They are required to possess well developed medical administrative, organisational and computing skills and to participate in flexible working hours as necessary.

The post holder will be required to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide an efficient, effective and timely PET-CT imaging service to the patients, clinicians and researchers and work very closely with the senior members of the department to achieve the highest quality of service to all customers in accordance with departmental protocols.

The post holder will work closely with the PET User Access Manager, deputising in specific tasks when required, as well as supporting directly the PET Service Manager should the need arise.

The post holder will be required to develop a level of expertise in the relevant procedures, have an understanding of local needs to work independently, using their own initiative and judgement in problem solving, risk identification, and to be able to determine short-term priorities. The post will need to utilise their knowledge and expertise and will be expected to make timely and considered decisions, discussing and escalating more complicated matters that have a wider impact.

The post is expected to manage staff, overseeing operations associated using the KCL HR system (PeopleXD) and working to put in place ongoing business continuity and service resilience.

They will use standard operating processes and procedures, and work closely with their manager and wider team, to ensure compliance with regulations governing local activities. They will support the day-to-day and longer-term planning to ensure that all activities are delivered to a high standard. They will work collaboratively to improve processes to make them as efficient as possible.

The post would suit someone who is proactive in delivering and coordinating a range of activities and is able to work independently, effectively managing competing priorities and has a good attention to detail. You will join the Vision & Human-Robot Interaction (VHR) Group, which brings together researchers working at the intersection of computer vision, robotics, and assistive technologies. The team is currently leading the NeuroHand project—a UKRI-funded programme focused on the development of a soft robotic exoskeleton glove for stroke rehabilitation. The role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research that translates cutting-edge robotics into clinical and real-world settings.

About the role

The Department of Informatics is looking to recruit a a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to be appointed on a 1.0 FTE ending on 18th October 2026 investigating the development, clinical evaluation, and commercial translation of NeuroHand—a tendon-driven soft robotic exoskeleton glove for home-based hand rehabilitation in stroke survivors. The role is funded by a UKRI Proof of Concept grant and is based in the Vision & Human-Robot Interaction (VHR) Lab, within the Department of Informatics in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences at King’s College London.

The successful applicant will lead the integration of embedded control systems and multimodal intent detection (vision, force, voice), contribute to real-time control software and remote monitoring interface development, and oversee data collection during clinical user trials. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including robotics researchers, clinical advisors, regulatory consultants, and King's Innovation specialists. A key responsibility is to support the delivery of ISO 13485–compliant documentation and technical files necessary for CE/UKCA marking, as well as to contribute to patient and public involvement (PPI) sessions and commercial engagement activities.

The post-holder will be expected to demonstrate strong proficiency in robotics, embedded systems, and real-time signal processing, with a track record of research publications in human–robot interaction, rehabilitation robotics, or related areas. Experience with soft robotic systems, patient-facing trials, or medical device development is highly desirable.

This role provides an opportunity to work at the forefront of translational robotics, with the potential to contribute to a spin-out venture and significantly improve clinical outcomes for people living with upper-limb impairment following stroke.

This is a full time (35 hours per week) post, offered on a fixed term contract until the 18th October 2026.
