The Research Development, Grants and Transformation Team is central to this mission, providing expert guidance on research development and managing the pre-award process for competitive funding opportunities including the Australian Research Council (ARC), National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), philanthropic bodies and other local and international funding schemes.

We are seeking a Research Development Manager – ARC & Industry Grants to take on a strategic leadership role in advancing La Trobe’s success in major national research funding schemes. This role will focus on supporting competitive grants with the Australian Research Council (ARC) as well as industry-focused initiatives such as Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) and Cooperative Research Centres (CRC).

Working closely with the Director, Research Grants and Transformation and key partners across the University including Business Development Managers within the Industry Engagement Division you will lead the development, coordination and submission of high-quality proposals. You will also play a pivotal role in building institutional capability, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring alignment with La Trobe’s strategic research priorities.

Duties at this level:


	Lead the development and submission of major ARC, industry and competitive research funding proposals.
	Build and implement pipeline strategies to strengthen ARC and industry-aligned grant success.
	Manage and mentor the grants team to deliver high-quality, timely submissions.
	Collaborate with business development to secure industry and commercial research funding.


Skills and knowledge:


	Postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience in grant development and management, or equivalent expertise.
	Proven success in supporting major competitive funding applications, particularly Category 1 schemes.
	Strong knowledge of Australian research funding programs and major initiatives.
	Demonstrated ability to manage a pipeline of proposals from concept through to submission and establishment.
	Well-developed networks with funding bodies and research partners across the sector.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF ROBOTICS 

The School of Robotics is one of the seven industry-themed Schools in the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). Each School consists of an Education, Research and Development Institute (ERDI) for teaching and research collaboration, a one-stop School Office providing professional services to support student administration and activities, members of staff, and industry partners, and an affiliated School Joint-Venture Company jointly established by XJTLU and the School’s partner for industry-embedded teaching, learning, practical, and other activities. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCES


	A doctoral research (normally PhD) degree in electrical and electronics, mechatronics, intelligent controls, robotics engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, computer vision, mobile robotics, machine learning, data science and analytics, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent professional practice and engagement.
	Previous experience in coding (C/C++, Python, ROS etc) in robotics-related domains.
	Self-motivated for innovative teaching.
	Clear understanding of the philosophy and concept of Syntegrative Education (SE).
	Demonstrable past teaching/industry experiences or practices aligned with Syntegrative Education (SE).

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Satellite Communications to strengthen its activities in this area within the internationally renowned?Institute for Communications Systems?(ICS) and the?Surrey Space Institute?(SSI). This post is part of a strategic investment of six academic posts across the School in the areas of Cyber Security, AI, Robotics and Satellite Communications.

ICS was established in 2013 (from former CCSR that was established in 1995) and has a long-standing international track record for communications research and was the first ever winner of the Bhattacharyya Award in 2021. It is a research institute that works closely with global industrial partners and over 300 UK SMEs bringing together leading academics and companies to help develop the future of mobile and satellite communication technologies. ICS is the home of the world’s first 5GIC and the UK first 6GIC. It also leads the newly formed Doctoral Training Centre in Future Open Security Networks in collaboration with Queens University Belfast.

The candidate should have wide knowledge of the satellite communications and/or advance wireless technologies and ideally with experience in working with industry. The candidate must have a proven record of research. Current research in ICS covers intelligent network protocols and architectures, MIMO detection, air interfaces, antenna, electro magnetic engineering and modelling, RIS, channel characterisation for all communication and connectivity systems from space to terrestrial systems.

Satellite communications features in our MSc courses as well as very successful one-week courses to industry. The candidate would be expected to contribute to these as well as undertake other teaching duties in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the School.

The successful candidate will be expected to champion satellite communication research and innovation both within ICS and SSI. The postholder will benefit from support of colleagues within the ICS, SSI, the School, and across the University to develop strategic partnerships.?

About us

The Social Computation and Representation Lab (SoCR Lab; www.socrlab.net) uses mathematical models and causal experimental designs to understand the fundamental rules behind human and AI social interaction in health and disorder. This is with the ultimate aim to improve psychiatric support for service users and improve the intuition, ethics, and efficiency of AI systems. We are based at the IoPPN, King’s College London, a world-leading institute well-known for its close-knit community, collaborative atmosphere, and outstanding research support.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in cognitive computational modelling (preferably social cognitive modelling) and an interest in cognitive neuroscience and psychiatry to join the SoCR Lab led by Dr Joseph M Barnby. You will work within a wider project funded by the Wellcome Trust that will test the social and non-social cognitive mechanisms underlying paranoia across social context, under psychopharmacological manipulation, and in those who are seeking support for psychosis. This will be with the intention to test how parameters may be biased by THC manipulations, or in support-seeking participants with a diagnosis of psychosis. The postdoctoral researcher will lead a research program focused on developing and testing the computational mechanisms of social inference, although will have plenty of scope, and will be encouraged, to develop and expand their own research interests. The postholder will work under the supervision of Co-I Dr Joseph M Barnby and also benefit from the supervision of Co-I Dr Michael Moutoussis (UCL), Co-I Amir Englund (KCL), Co-I Syeda Tahir (City) and PI Prof Mitul Mehta (KCL).

This role will provide you with the freedom to develop new and creative ideas, methodologies, and/or approaches to challenging important questions of interest to the lab. In addition to leading the project, you will be supported in finding a research area that interests you, encouraged to develop a research programme of your own, and apply for independent funding. The postdoctoral researcher will also have teaching opportunities if this is of interest. You will be primarily based at the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences (KCL, London, UK) but will also have the opportunity to travel and work at the Centre for AI and Machine Learning (ECU, Perth, AU) and the School of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience (UWA, Perth, AU).

Importantly, we adopt a flexible working environment within the lab and are happy to organise working arrangements that suite your individual needs. We enjoy diversity of thought, ideas, and experience within the lab and approach our work with the same mindset. All of our data and code is open, and we will expect the postholder to adopt open science principles during the course of their stay with the SoCR lab.

This role will involve:


	Refining the implementing decision-making social and non-social paradigms for pre specified research hypotheses.
	Conducting model simulations, fitting, and recovery, as well as statistical inferences on model outputs, for pre specified research hypotheses.
	Suggesting further appropriate methods and analyses.
	Writing manuscripts in to disseminate research findings.
	Present summaries of study updates at internal meetings and meetings with external collaborators, and at national and international conferences.
	Mentoring undergraduate, masters, and PhD students in the SoCR Lab and within the Department of Neuroimaging.
	Collaborating with the wider team in order to achieve the aims of the project.
	Managing and organising own workload. It is the postdoc’s responsibility to make sure that deadlines are met and the necessary resources are available for the job at hand.
	Working with Dr Joseph Barnby and the wider team to develop novel research questions and theories of interest. This will be highly encouraged.
	Other relevant activities as directed by the line manager.


This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until?31st August 2029.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	PhD in developmental cognitive computational science, neuroscience, computer science, or related disciplines.
	Previous experience in social cognitive research
	Knowledge and prior experience of model simulation, recovery, and fitting of decision-making data
	Excellent verbal and written communication skills
	Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
	Good organisational and time management skills, including ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.


Desirable criteria


	Coding skills and experience in one or more open-source languages? (e.g. Python, R)
	Experience in the use of neuroimaging analysis (fMRI, MRI) to study mechanisms of brain function
	Previous experience of using Bayesian methods in both model development and fitting.
	Previous experience and knowledge of research methods and study design in clinical trials.
	Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in clinical trials and knowledge of Research Governance Frameworks.
