Alumna to be proud of no 16 is our very own Alison Utley, listed in the Push Guide to Which University 96 as one of two famous Salford alumni (the other being much-capped Welsh rugby player Ieuan Evans). She did indeed read politics there and all of us here know her as a fine journalist and totally wonderful human being. But it still seems surprising - particularly as she is not the author of Little Grey Rabbit - that Salford has not apparently produced anyone better known.

The editors of the 1997 edition may like to know that she did a postgraduate course at Brighton.
