Alumni to be proud of this week, N142 and 143, are a lawyer and an engineer at the sticky end of the Romany shift to the UK. Im-migration minister Mike O'Brien is a former academic, a graduate of North Staffs Poly, now the University of Staffordshire, and one-time lecturer in law at Colchester Institute. And, Dover MP Gwyn Prossr is a chartered marine engineer who went to Swansea College of Technology and was chief marine engineer on Sealink ferries. Aptly enough, he took a leading role in trying to prevent construction of the Channel tunnel.
